- Death of Pioneer Citizen.
D. F. Hunt, a well-known resident of Colfax and prominent in Masonic circles, died last Saturday.
The funeral was held Monday morning in the Methodist church, Rev. H. C. Kohr officiating.
Interment took place in Masonic cemetery, members of the lodge accompanying the body to the grave.
Deceased was born in Iowa the son of Ezekiel Hunt and Mary (Green) Johnson Hunt. He was 77 years of age. He came to Colfax from Coquille City, Oregon, in 1878, bringing his family. He married Emily Ellen Nosler. She wife died ten years later.

D. Franklin Hunt was born in 1832 in Flemingsburg, Kentucky. In September 1846 the family including Ezekiel, Mary, and their 14 children traveled by covered wagon from Kentucky first to Indiana and then to Polk County, Iowa just Northwest of Des Moines where Ezekiel established a sawmill and a small village which he named Huntsville. All that remains today of the original site is Ridgedale Cemetery where many Hunt family members are interred.
Franklin married Emily Nosler 13 September 1855. They remained in Iowa for a time and eventually moved to the state of Washington.
