Notes - Note on Find a Grave:
The Riley family is originally from Fleming Co., KY. In 1830 they moved to Rush Co., IN. John S. Riley returned to Fleming Co. and married Matilda Sutton (1833), and returned to IN. First three children born in IN (George, Charlotte, Wm. H.C.). They moved back to Popular Plains, Fleming, KY about 1850 and owned and operated a general store there. Several more children born in Popular Plains (Virginia, Harriet, Edwin). They sold store in 1856-57 and returned to IN, buying property in Francisville, Pulaski, IN. One child born there (Catherine "Kate"). John S. Riley died in 1860 (Francisville), and Matilda remarried 1862. They then moved back to Rush Co., IN near family. Matilda's mother Margaret Sutton was now living in Rush Co, as was the Riley relatives ( Grandfather Edward Riley, Mary Abernathy, Beauford Riley etc.).
