- Note on Find a Grave:
FYI: Polly was the daughter of James and Sarah Waugh Hinton, both born Fleming Co., KY and died Walker Twp., Rush County, Indiana. James grandfather was VACHEL I./Vietchel HINTON, Sr., a Revolutionary War soldier (born MD/died KY). James grandmother was Margaret Howard. Both lines go back to the 1300s in England. James mother was allegedly Ruah/Ruanna "Rue" Brice? from the TRIBE OF CORNSTALKS. See online postings for all of this... per bundydos@gmail.com/July 2025.
OBITUARY...
Polly Riley Dead. -- She Died at her Home in Curtisville, Saturday.
Had Long Been a Resident of that Place and Was Well-Known.
One of the best known women in the eastern part of Tipton County passed away Saturday night when Polly Riley died at her home in Curtisville, her death being due to the infirmities of advanced years.
Mrs. Riley was eighty-seven years of age, and she had resided in that section of the county so long that she was well-known to about every resident of that section. Mrs. Riley came to the county in an early day; but since the death of her husband, she has been making her home with her children, she having been living with her son Cas in Curtisville for a number of years.
Several days ago, Mrs. Riley was attacked with heart complications; and during the last days of her life, she suffered a great deal, she being unable to get any rest. Most of her hours were spent in an easy-chair, she being unable to lie down. The announcement of her death was no surprise to those who were familiar with her afflictions.
There are three surviving children with her, they being Mrs. Bud Yohe of Elwood; Ed Riley of Van Buren, IN; and Cas Riley of Curtisville. The funeral services were conducted Monday morning at 10:00 a.m. at the late home in Curtisville. Rev. Hoover of New Castle officiated. The interment was at the New Lancaster Cemetery
