Granville Jarvis was the son of a Baptist minister and was born near Pruntytown, Taylor Co., [W]Va. He was a well know merchant. Children of Granville and Anna (Reeves) Jarvis inclue, Josiah W. P. Jarvis-became a doctor; Claude S. Jarvis-moved to Philadelphia and established the Quaker City Cab Company; Ellen Jarvis; Anna M. Jarvis, the founder of Mother's Day; Thomas R. Jarvis, Anna Elizabeth Jarvis, Columbia Jarvis, Clara Jarvis, Ralph Jarvis, Lillie Jarvis.
