- Zingg, Research Head, Dies at 52
Austin W. Zingg, 52, chief of the watershed technology branch of the Agriculture Research Service here since 1956, died Tuesday in a Denver hospital, where he had been a patient for five days.
A resident west of Fort Collins since 1954, Mr. Zingg had filled various jobs with the U.S. Department of Agriculture since he graduated from Iowa State College in 1930 with a bachelor of science degree in agriculture engineering. He received a master's degree at Kansas State College in 1952.
He served as supervisor for erosion control studies in 17 Western states, with headquarters here, for three years prior to his appointment as watershed chief.
Married in 1932
Born Dec. 20, 1906, in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, Mr. Zingg married the former Bernice Hudson, who survived him, in 1932. They are the parents of two children, Larry, a student at Colorado State University and Ginny, a pupil at fort Collins High School. He also has a brother, Warren Zingg of Tulsa, Okla., and a sister, Mrs. Esther King of Olds, Iowa.
The funeral has been set for 2 p.m. Friday at the Balmer-Collins & Riddell mortuary, with the Rev. W.J. Hage in charge. Burial will be in Grandview cemetery.
