Old New Garden Cemetery
Cemetery notes and/or description:
In the early days of Linn County, the community about half way between Brookfield and St. Catherine was known as the Ridgway and Morris settlements. The people had come principally from Howard, Boone and Chariton Counties.
In the fall of 1854, following a season of severe drouth, a group of these early settlers met on Thursday, October 26th, and constituted the New Garden Church, which according to Linn County History, was the first church organized in Yellow Creek Township.
