Levi Riley Gilkison, 88, died this morning at 6 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Antle, 410 Russell St.
For 36 years, he lived at Sweet Water, Ill, where he farmed and worked as a section hand for the Chicago & North Western railroad. He retired from the railroad in 1935 after working 20 years.
Born in Flemingsburg, Ky. on June 24, 1864, he was a son of Burgess and Harriet Million Gilkison.
He married Lina Pendleton in Kentucky on Dec. 27, 1888.
Surviving are his wife; six daughter, Mrs. Edith Montgomery, of Greenview, Ill.; and Mrs. Walter Snyder, Mrs. Robert Fitzgerald, Mrs. Paul Cantrall, Mrs. John Kerr and Mrs. Antle, all of Peoria; three sons, Alvin, of Greenview; Irvin, of Compton, Calif.; and Isaac, of DeKalb; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Reedes, of Chatham, Ill. and Mrs. Etta Blakemore, of Marion, Ind.; one brother, Russell, of Sweetwater; 24 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at the Church of Christ in Sweet Water.
Interment was in Sugar Grove cemetery.
