Notes - Henry F. Hempleman
Henry F. Hempleman was born in Clarke County, Ohio, west of South Charleston, on the old Hempleman homestead September 28, 1811, died October 9, 1876. Married Minerva Hull, September 25, 1842. She was born June 8, 1822, in Warren County, Tenn., died at her home near Tameroa, Illinois, in 1911.
Henry F. Hempleman, born on the farm, early in life devoted his time, with his brother Daniel, to the stock trade, buying, grazing and feeding large herds of cattle, then driving them on foot across the mountains to Philadelphia. The writer remembers seeing some of the droves of cattle on the way to market. They would often number many hundreds. He became the possessor of a large tract of land near Tameroa, Illinois. Later in life, he gave some time to politics, and became Judge of the County. He was one of those sturdy pioneers that blazed the way for the present generation. During his life he had the happy faculty of making every man his friend.
To Henry F. Hempleman and Minerva Hull Hempleman were born thirteen children.
