2343 | Hugh McCullum, a former resident of Arapahoe, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Peter Watson, Englewood, Colo., Wednesday morning of last week. He had been in failing health since the death of his wife three years ago, and the end was not unexpected. The body was brought to Arapahoe for interment, accompanied by Mrs. Watson. Funeral services were held from the residence of J.L. Tull Friday forenoon, the services being conducted by Elders McGraw and Evans. Deceased was a highly respected citizen of Arapahoe for a number of years, and wore the latter years of his life away caring for his wife, who was a hopeless invalid and bedfast eleven years. After her death he visited here and there with his children in the hope that a rest and change of scene and climate would bring back some of his former good health, but he gradually failed, his age being too great for recuperation. Hugh McCullum was born at Port Stewart, Ireland, in 1843 and moved to Canada in 1861; came from Canada to the United States in 1864. Died at Englewood, Colo., Sept. 17, 1913, age 70 years. He leaves to mourn his loss, six children, Mrs. Sarah Watson, of Englewood, Colo.; John McCullum, of Arapahoe; Mrs. Maggie Weaver, of Goshen, Ind.; William McCullum, of Arapahoe; Mrs. Elvina Price, of Paola, Kans., and Mrs. Catherine Hawkins, of Fort Morgan, Colo.; 27 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
