John Howard Frazee
John Howard Frazee, the oldest son of William M. Frazee and Kate (Robeson) Frazee, was born on October 31, 1900. He passed away on October 2, 1973 at the Hand Hospital in Shenandoah, Iowa after nearly two months of illness.
He attended country school at District 76 and graduated from Summerfield High School, Summerfield, Kansas in 1919.
He taught one year at District 87 in Kansas before going to Tarkio College and graduating in1924. He also took additional work at the University of Nebraska and the University of Kansas. He taught at Oketo and Beattie, Kansas; Osmond, Belden, Stella, Diller and Sterling, Nebraska; and Riverton, Farragut, and Ute, Iowa. He retired from teaching in 1969 at Shenandoah, Iowa. His teaching career covered a span of forty-seven years. He was always respected and loved by his pupils.
He was a life long member and elder of the Summerfield United Presbyterian Church. He was a very devout, sincere Christian man being active in church work, teaching Sunday School classes and attending church services.
On July 28 1937 he was united in marriage to Ferne Nelson and to this union was born two children, a son William Hugh who died at birth and a daughter Rosalee.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son, William Hugh.
He is survived by his wife, Ferne; daughter, Rosalee Bloomfield and son-in-law, Arthur Bloomfield of Uniondale, New York; two granddaughters, Ingrid and Mary Frances Bloomfield; a brother, Willard Frazee of Summerfield, Kansas and a sister, Mrs. Sidney (Annabel) Morrill, Denver, Colorado; nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted at the Summerfield United Presbyterian Church on Thursday afternoon, October 4, 1973 with Reverence Harold F. Jensen officiating.
Burial was in the Mission Creek Cemetery.
Organist was Mrs. J.D. Cameron. A vocal trio composed of Mrs. Robert Frazee, Mrs. Ivan Knowles, and Mrs. J.D. Cameron sang “In the Garden” and “The Lord Is My Shepherd”.
Pallbearers were Raymond Barr, Roy Eastwood, Lawrence Robeson, Lowell Morrill, Robert Frazee and Bruce Frazee.
