Notes - Greta Porter and her husband Karl Porter and their 16-year-old son Karl Jr. were in the family car going for a Saturday evening visit with friends when, at 7:17 PM, they were crossing the train tracks near the train station at Wakarusa, KS. A train that was running 15 minutes late, suddenly came around the bend and crashed into their car, pushing the car about fifty feet down the track and instantly killing all three of the Porters. The older Porters were thrown about fifty feet from the car. Karl Jr. was thrown also, but less far. They were in a 1939 Plymouth automobile.
The daughter, Irma Eveline Porter, lived at Junction City, KS at the time of her parents' death. Irma was married to Ralph D. Winters. Irma was born 18 Nov 1917 in Auburn, KS. She died 14 Sep 2001 in Las Vegas, NV.
